Fresenius Book

From A Study Guide for the Hammer of God by Bo Giertz,  , "Johann Philip Fresenius (1705-1761) was a German Lutheran pietist. A pastor in several German cities, he also wrote a book of sermons, Evangelische Predigten which extended his influence into the Scandinavian countries as well."  Fresenius also authored the Book for Confession and Communion.  The Carlson family writings in the front and back of his communion book (this edition was evidently published in 1856) are dated 1864 -- before they emmigrated to the United States.  The inside front cover has signatures of John Oscar (J.O.) Carlson and Martha Katatina Carlson ("This book belongs to..."), along with their Nebraska homestead Range/Township/Section information.  The signature on page 1 appears to be of a "Gustaf Fredrick" (unknown).  Page 2 has what appears to be Martha's writings at two different times.  The back inside cover signature of Johan Carls Son ("This book belongs to..") appears to include a reference to Jahannis Bergar (Jahannis mountain/hill).  There is a "Johannis Valley" near Halmstad in Sweden.  Someone has numbered in the book (in ink) what appear to be sermons, 1 through 27.
